I thought that, being a Little House fan, I'd read all the books, from Charlotte and Martha, to Caroline, Laura, and Rose. Well, Cynthia Rylant wrote this wonderful book, and I am so glad I found it. It sounds just like the books Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote, too.It covers Laura's "lost"years of life in Burr Oak, Iowa. Laura had started this book but never finished it. In reading this, I learned lots of new things about Laura, such as the fact she had a little brother named Freddy. I also learned she had lived in a hotel. It is really well-written and I think Little House fans will LOVE it.

Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives!
Have you ever ate at a place called Avila's? Probably not.If you drove by it you might have thought it was a house. But it is so yummy! It was on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives! I included the video. They are known for their gorditas, which is brisket wrapped in a tortilla. We had the Triple D, named after the show. It included pozole, two soups, tamales, enchiladas....etc. It was food lover's heaven :-)! My mom got a soup that tasted like hominy. It was bland until you put the radishes, oregano, onion, pepper, (and a bunch of other things but I forgot!)in. The people there were really friendly. It's address is: 4714 Maple Avenue Dallas, TX 75219
(214) 520-2700 I highly recommend you go there! I give it 5 stars.

Dnow
Hi!! I was at DNow this past weekend. Our theme was EPIC. What is DNow, you ask? It is crazy fun! I'll try to explain. It is like a weekend church camp for 6th-12th graders. Your Sunday School class stays at a host home, which means people actually were crazy enough let you stay at their house :-) ! We played black light dodge ball; we wore white jerseys that glowed under the ultra-violet lights. We scribbled on our faces with glow in the dark highlighter, which made our faces glow even more than normal. :-)
Saturday, each team got $20, which we had to use to make the town a better place. My group baked cookies, bought crossword puzzles, and planted flowers. Then we handed these items out at a local nursing home and visited with the residents. It was so fun! I LOVE my church! To see pics of us go to authenticyouth.com

What I'm learning in our Homeschool
I am learning about this in school, so I am going to post about it. It is sad, but part of America's history. This book is really good if you want to learn more about it.
A Short Essay on J.F.K's Assassination.
by Laura Ashley
On Nov.22,1963,John and Jacqueline Kennedy stepped of a plane at Love Field in Dallas,Texas. They were greeted enthusiastically by Gov.Connally and cheering crowds. Jackie and Lady Bird(the vice president's wife) were presented bouquets of roses. Then they got into limousines to proceed to the Trade Mart. It was such a beautiful day the President hadn't wanted to use the limo's bubble top. Jackie had just told John"You can't say Dallas wasn't friendly to you!"when three shots were fired from the 6th floor window of the Texas School Book Depository. Two hit the President in the head and throat, and one hit Gov.Connally. The limousine raced to Parkland Memorial Hospital, but it was too late. John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was declared dead at 1:00 p.m central time. The Dallas police arrested Lee Harvey Oswald, and stated that he did kill the President. While millions of Americans watched on T.V, Jack Ruby, a night club owner, stepped from a crowd of reporters and shot Oswald. Though the President no longer lives, his legacy still lives on through the Peace Corps, The Space Race, and other programs he started.

What I did for the Project Show
Well, now that the Project Show is over, maybe you'd ike to see some of the things I did for it!
Exhibit A you've already seen, if you read this blog. It is a Origami collection. The other things I did were: a Cork Board ,an apron, a picture of a daffodil (that's with that poem I posted earlier) picture of a butterfly, Key lime pie, cookies(see Little pink cookies post for pics), a turtle cheesecake, and a piggy cake.
