Mr. Popper's Penguins

Mr. Popper's Penguins
For Christopher's eleventh birthday we went to see  the Mr. Popper's Penguins movie. It was really good and funny. It is rated PG. Although it was nothing like the book, it was still pretty awesome.  In the movie, Mr. Popper is a important business man trying to improve his relationship with his two kids, Bill and Janey. He has just divorced. When his dead father leaves him 8 penguins, and sends them in the mail, things go crazy! However, Mr. Popper's kids and their mother love the penguins ,and it looks like they might get back together. Then, a game warden comes, and every thing goes wrong. In the end everything works out, though. You'll love it!

I made this super yummy (and easy ) pie for the 4-H Project Show. We found the recipe online. Those of you who know me know that I NEVER use cake/cookie mixes or prepared foods, but it is really tricky to get the crust size right. Thanks to http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/easy-key-lime-pie-i/detail.aspx for the recipe.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born on January 8,1935 to Vernon and Gladys Presley. He had a twin brother, Jessie, who was stillborn. Elvis always regretted this and wondered what Jessie would've been like."The King" first owned a guitar when, on his eleventh birthday, his parents bought him one. Soon after this when he was 13, the family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Many of Elvis's songs are based on gospel music he heard in church and at the all-night gospel sings he often attended, and the R&B he heard on Beale Street as a teen there.
In 1954, Elvis began his singing career with the Sun Records label in Memphis. By 1956, he was known all over the world. He even starred in 33 movies. He served his country in the U.S. Army after he became famous, which was unusual. He died on August 15,1977.
   Fun Facts about Elvis:
My mom saw him at his last concert ever.
He was a Black Belt in karate.
His wedding cake was 6 ft tall!
He had a jet named after his daughter, the Lisa Marie.
Once he sang his hit song, "Hound Dog", to a Basset hound!
        Thanks for reading!

I love otters! Here are some facts about them:
  1. They have a thick underfur that helps keep them warm and dry.
  2. Babies are called pups!
  3. A mother otter has 2-3 pups per litter.
4.Their den is called a holt.
  5. The only way to get to a holt is through a secret underwater entrance.
   6.They are VERY sociable.
   7. Although most animals are not playful in their adult life, the otter loves to play.
    8. They adore water. All otters live near some body of water.
    9. Most wild animals have one mate after another, but otters are fiercely loyal, even grieving for it's mate if it dies.
  10. They eat; turtles, snakes, crabs, and eels.

Fiddler's reunion!

Some nice friends of ours invited us to the Fiddler's Reunion, and it was really fun. There was an 18 and under division where kids could compete, and it was interesting to watch them fiddle. Next we went to a little fair, and we ran into MORE friends there! My littlest brother and his friend rode all the little kid rides, and it was cute to watch them. My friend Lani, her friend, Christopher, and I went on the Tornado ride. It was pretty fast, but not too scary. Then we played all the games at the fair. I think it would be cool to play the fiddle. I take piano from a SUPER nice lady at our church, so I know (somewhat!)how to read sheet music, but I think it would also be pretty tricky. Do any of you play the fiddle? Comment and let me know!
