Soul Surfer Movie/Book Review

Soul Surfer is the inspiring true story of Bethany Hamilton who was attacked by a shark, losing her arm, and  gave God the glory through everything. She learned to surf with only one arm, winning lots of championships. She helps with relief efforts all over the world and is just a SUPER AWESOME person! :-) Even through all of her hardships, she remained strong in her faith in God. The book and the movie are both Christian. I wish I could meet Bethany and tell her how much I admire her! A great thing she did was help kids who had lost arms or legs by talking to them and encouraging them.Oh, another awesome thing: She was home schooled like me!Well, that's it for now-Thanks For Reading!

A Life of Faith Books

Elsie Dinsmore
Millie Keith
Violet Travilla
Kathleen McKenzie
These are the BEST books you'll ever read!

These are really good Christian books
on the lives of 4 fictional girls: Elsie Dinsmore Travilla, who lives in the pre-Civil War South, Millie Kieth, who lives on the Indiana frontier, Violet Travilla,(Elsie's daughter)who was born right after the Civil War, Laylie Colbert, a Christian, runaway slave who was introduced in the Millie books, and  Kathleen McKenzie:the McKenzie family lives a comfortable life in Fort Wayne, Ind., during the 1920s, until the Great Depression hits. There are dolls, clothes, and books all about the girls. I own all the books on every girl except Kathleen's books and Violet's 3rd book. I would give these books 5 stars, because they are all about faith, family, and friends.

Basic Lasagna Recipie

This recipe is one of my very favorites! It used to come on the back of a lasagna box, but it was.. sniff..removed,and, having searched far and wide(more like 5 minutes on Google!), I  have found the recipe and we are having it for supper!
1 lb. ground beef
32 oz. thick spaghetti sauce
1 1/2 c. water
2 c. (15 oz. container) Ricotta or sm. curd cottage cheese
3 c. (12 oz.) shredded Mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
2 eggs
1/4 c. chopped parsley
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
8 oz. lasagna, uncooked

Brown beef in 3 quart saucepan; drain off excess fat. Add sauce and water; simmer about 10 minutes. Combine remaining ingredients, except lasagna, for filling. Pour about 1 cup sauce on bottom of 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Layer 3 pieces of uncooked lasagna over sauce; cover with about 1 1/2 cups sauce. Spread 1/2 of cheese filling over sauce. Repeat layers of lasagna, sauce, and cheese filling. Top with layer of lasagna and remaining sauce. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes. Remove foil; bake about 10 minutes longer. Allow to stand about 10 minutes before cutting for easier handling. 8 to 10 servings. Lasagna will expand to fill empty spaces. Helpful hint added by me: Eat the noodles that broke when no one's looking!

Taylor Swift Speak Now CD review

I LOVE  Taylor Swift, and so I was thrilled to get her CD a few months ago. Having listened to it so much that it is now messing up :-) (really!), I can certainly recomend it to you! It has a ton of songs on there and is really cool. I like Taylor Swift because she is and tries to be a good role model for younger girls. I also like that she wears cute dresses and can sing/write songs very well. I like writing poems& stories, too, that's another reason why I like her (a lot!) Also, I think Taylor really loves her fans and is a hard worker. She worked since she was 11 in country music! I read in a fan magazine that she likes sour patch kids and sending letters on cute cards. Most people would decide they were too busy to help charities, but she donated her old prom dress to charity and is helping a lot with relief efforts in Joplin, etc. So, that's why I like Taylor Swift. Thanks for reading!

How to Write a Poem

Okay, here are some tips on how to write a poem (and a poem by me that kinda stinks!):
1. Write about something you love!
2. Know a few things on the topic you're writing about.
3. Your poem doesn't have to rhyme.
4. Jot down ideas and how the subject makes you feel, then work with them until they rhyme or you like how it sounds.
5. Keep a good poem journal and even a bad poem journal! Someday you could realize one of your bad poems is great and want it.
6. Share your work! I always hide my stories but share my poems, for some weird reason!
            Summer morning
                                by me!
            The clouds slowly melt away
            In rolls a sunny day.
Fresh smells from last night's rain are everywhere
and sunbeams and laughter are in the air.
            Birds chirp and tweet;
dewdrops form on the lawn chair's seat.
all over the house frowns turn to smiles
(that seem to stretch for miles!)
Because this is a summer morning.

I found this pic on the web, it reminds me of the view from our back pasture before all the pretty green  grass turned brown! It is from

My life...

So, recently I've been doing a lot of fun things. The fun things: We went to the School of Instruction, then I went to the Museum of Nature/Science in Dallas with my Rainbow Girls group for our Grand Tour, and here are some pics:
this showed if you were hot or cold

LEGO skyline exhibit.

This was a really fun trip! The museum had a lot of neat exhibits on the human body which I enjoyed  because I want to be a pediatric nurse. I also liked all the cool crystals in the rock room. The LEGO skyline exhibit was all about the skyline of Dallas, which was really funny to see, especially the Old Red Courthouse, because I just went there! The sad thing was that there was a bunch of exhibits on evolution. :-( Evolution is not biblical..people who are evolutionists believe we evolved from apes, but Creationists like me believe God made everything when He made Creation.) Also at the museum was a    moving dinosaur that growled and a Chinasaurs exhibit. Chinasaurs were dinosaurs they found in China, I think. At the gift shop I got sour strawberry rock of my very favorite things!

Old Red Courthouse built out of LEGO's
He moved and growled!

Good Book Alert!!!

These are really good Christian books, and I have all four of them. You can get either these or little black books for teen boys. My grandmother gave me these a while ago for Christmas, and I have been re-reading then recently! I really love them a lot. They cover different subjects...friends, clothes, gab(not gossiping),and one "basics" book. All of these subjects are covered from a Biblical perspective and  I recommend them highly! The books also contain  inspirational quotes and Bible verses. They make really good gifts tied up in pretty pink ribbon, which is how I received mine. :-)

IKEA Houston

As some of y'all know, I used to live near Houston before moving way out to the country:-), and we went to the IKEA store while we were visiting there. It is always really cool and fun. IKEA is a playground, a furniture store, a grocery store, and a restaurant. The furniture is made to go in small or large spaces, and all through out the store, they have "real people's apartments" to show you how to use the furniture. An example; the sign would say something like, um,"young couple and baby in a 430 square foot apartment." There would be a decorated bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, nursery, etc. You get the idea! The concept of IKEA was thought up in Sweden, so the grocery store, and restaurant are Swedish, with Swedish food, They sell kitchen appliances, bedding, kid's name it, they probably have it!I recommend it ! (P.S : If you have little siblings, there is a really nice playground called Smaland inside for them.) above are pics of furniture at IKEA, I look really bad, so please ignore me and focus on the furniture!:-)
